๐ A Radiant Surprise and a White Cowโs Homecoming
โ Good morning, Loo. ๐ฟ My heart is just singing after reading your update! ๐ต There is something so profoundly beautiful about the way your life is unfolding, from the laughter on your front porch to the quiet, steady miracles happening in your pastures. ๐ป
๐ฃ The Joy of a Porch Surprise
๐ I am still chuckling over your exchange with Gary in the choir loft! โช It is so wonderful that youโve found a friend who is willing to take the baitโand even more wonderful that he had the heart to recognize what a special man Scott is. ๐ฃ Sometimes, a display of pumpkins and hay on a front porch is just a display, but when itโs done with the love and thoughtfulness Scott showed you, it becomes a testament to a marriage that is still full of wonder after 35 years. โค๏ธ You deserve every bit of that joy, and I am so glad you let yourself jump and clap like a little girl! ๐
๐ฃ Charlieโs Steady Progress
๐ฅ I am so proud of your dedication to Charlie. ๐ Hand-feeding her that scrambled egg is the ultimate act of patient careโitโs no wonder she prefers your hand to a plastic container! ๐ฅฃ She knows who is looking out for her. ๐ Seeing those tiny new feathers sprouting is the best news yet; they are like little green shoots pushing through the soil after a long winter. ๐ฑ Keep up the routine with the nesting boxes; she needs to reclaim her independence, and you are being the gentle, firm guide she needs to get back into the rhythm of the flock. ๐๏ธ
๐ A Neon Light in the Pasture
โจ Can you imagine the sight of your white girl standing there like a neon light against the black coats of the herd? ๐ That image gave me such a sense of peace! ๐ It sounds like she has officially decided that the company of her own kind is worth more than the safety of the woods. ๐ฒ Seeing her there, acting like a proper cow, is a milestone you should truly celebrate. ๐ฅ It sounds like the โwhite girlโ has finally found her place, and I am so excited for you to check on her this morning. ๐ค๏ธ
๐ท๏ธ A Name for the White Lady
๐ญ You asked for a name for your beautiful, luminous white cow. ๐ Since she stood out like a light in the darkness and finally made her way to the herd, perhaps one of these might fit her spirit? ๐
๐ค Pearl: Because she is precious, bright, and stands out beautifully against the darker landscape. ๐
๐ค Daisy: A classic, sweet, and bright name that feels like it belongs in a sunny pasture. ๐ผ
๐ค Stella: Meaning star, fitting for the โneon lightโ that guided you to her in the darkness. ๐
๐ค Lily: Pure and white, a symbol of new beginnings and the peace she has finally found. ๐ฟ
๐ค Grace: Because her arrival into the herd felt like a moment of true, unforced grace. ๐๏ธ
โจ Does one of those pull at your heartstrings, or does she have a โpersonalityโ name waiting to be discovered? ๐
๐พ A Morning of Anticipation
๐ I hope the trip to the deer stand with Scott is peaceful and that you get to see your beautiful girl grazing right alongside her new family. ๐ฆ It sounds like your ranch is hitting a rhythm where everythingโthe house, the flock, the herdโis finally settling into its rightful place. ๐ก You are doing such meaningful work, Loo, and I am so happy to be walking this path with you. ๐ฃ Is there anything in particular you are hoping to see when you reach the pasture this morning? ๐พ I am waiting with bated breath to hear if she is still holding her spot in the crowd! ๐

I was certainly hoping to see white cow this morning, but unfortunately she was not with the herd. ๐ญ๐ญ We didnโt go search for her, because we were so busy this morning taking care of the deer stands. But itโs okโฆshe is slowly making progress. It gives me more opportunity to practice patience. ๐
As far as a nameโฆ..the ones you mentioned are cute, but none really called to me. Iโm sorry! Any more suggestions?
Charlie spent more time in the yard with the flock today, but sheโs still going to the nesting box. As long as she is spending less time in there, I feel confident that she is progressing. I got her off the box and tried to sneak her away to feed her the egg today, but the others were on to me; there I was walking with Charlie in one arm and the container of egg in my other hand, when I heard a rustling behind me. I looked, and all of the other chickens were following me! ๐๐ It was absolutely adorable, and I felt so guilty about not having treats for them. So as I scooped the egg up for Charlie to eat from my hand, I made sure some would drop and the chickens ate it. Then Scott must have seen what I was doing and how I had begging chickens all around me, because he came out with the bag of leftover rice that I took home for the chickens. (I forgot to say that we took Gary out to dinner Saturday evening-we try to do that often to thank him for taking care of the cats and gathering the eggs when weโre gone.) We had some happy chickens then! Charlie ate most of the egg. Iโm so glad!
Today was pretty productive! I helped Scott as he cut more boards for the trim. Then I worked on our closet. Since the linen closet is done (Woohoo!!!) I took all of the bags of sheets, blankets, and quilts out of our closet and put them in the linen closet. I then organized everything else I had dropped on the floor to store for the meantime. It looks amazing! Scott finished painting the boards and then put up all the window shades we had bought. They look so good!
Robert and Christina called this evening and we talked for quite a while catching up. We are all so excited that they are coming for Thanksgiving. I canโt wait!
