That particular hen was one of four that were almost exactly alike, except for their combs. I know that one of them was starting to grow their feathers back in a big way, but I donโt know if it was her or the others. I will have to check that today. I love those hens because they lay the dark brown eggs. And theyโve always just been really good little chickens. I am still so sad to lose her. I hope she didnโt suffer.
Yesterday we went back to the storage unit and got some more stuff. Out of the three that we have left, one of them has mostly things that we are not going to keep anymore. We would love to empty those storage units out! That would save us some money every month.
Today is Sunday and we will be headed to church here in a little bit. I missed it last week. I always miss it when we donโt go for whatever reason.
When I have a treat for the chickens, I go outside and I start singing my chicken song. They all come running to me and surround me, and it is so cute! But what I really, really love is when I throw the treats out and they all run to it almost like one entity, and the sound that their feet make hitting the ground is so cute! You can hear it very clearly as they run across to get the treats. I love that sound so much!
The rooster is still not getting treats, because the girls come and grab them away from him. I tried to put it directly into his beak, but before he will eat anything, he likes to drop it on the ground and rub his beak on the ground I guess in some kind of a preparation. Thereโs no way that works, because the girls are there grabbing it immediately. I feel so sorry for him!
