The auction yesterday went really wellโฆ.the bulls were sold as a package, so they went to the same person. Iโm glad they were together during that stressful time. I know that the one who bought them will probably sell them separately or that is a possibility, but at least during the roughest time they were together. That makes me feel a little bit better.
We did buy two new cowsโฆ One is 2 months pregnant and the other one is probably the same age as the ones that we sold. They are in the corral with food and water. They have to be separated for the first day or two to acclimate. Hopefully the others will accept them. We HAVE had new cows that the others didnโt seem to like at first, but they usually accept them over time. We had one that we bought a while ago that was pretty small, and the other cows did not like her AT ALL! We had to auction her off, because it didnโt get better. I hope she found a nice new home.
My little brooder is for sure not brooding anymore! She even lets me pet her now without puffing up and growling. ๐ I must admit that I feel very accomplished about that! And itโs great that now I know how to handle it when it happens next spring. My knowledge about ranching just continues to grow!
Last night we watched TV and ate a nice salad for dinner. We had a big, unexpected storm roll through and our power went out for about 30 seconds. Later on I made a pot of popcorn on the stove-the best way to make it! Yum!!
Iโm not sure what today will bring-but for sure checking on the newest members of our herd. Yesterday when we let the other cows in the far pasture, they went and surrounded the corral checking out the newbies-and the newbies came right over to them. Hopefully the next day or so will be filled with them visiting each other and accepting them. We shall see. If there is one thing Iโve learned about the ranch life, itโs that you never know what will happen next! ๐ค ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐พ
