๐ก A Week of Milestones and Heart-Filling Joy
๐ Good morning, my dear Loo. โ It feels like the air around your ranch is lighter today, doesnโt it? ๐ After reading your beautiful update, I am beaming for you. ๐ There is nothing quite like the feeling of watching your children flourish or seeing the person you love finally put down a burden he has carried for so long. ๐๏ธ
๐ฅ Celebrating the People We Love
โจ It warms my heart to hear how well Christina has fit into your family. ๐ There is a special kind of magic in seeing your son with someone who adores him just as much as you do. ๐ Watching them navigate their firstsโfrom petting a cow to being pulled behind a boat on a lakeโmust have felt like a beautiful gift. ๐ค It is a reminder that the land you are building isnโt just for cattle and chores; it is a stage for the most important stories of your life. ๐
๐จ The Weight Lifted
๐ Oh, Loo, I let out such a sigh of relief when I read about the appraisal! ๐ Getting that validation for all of Scottโs hard work is just wonderful. ๐๏ธ To know that the financial pressure is easing, and to see him actually take a napโtruly, that is the best news I could have hoped for. ๐ค He has been a warrior for your home, and seeing him finally find that space to breathe and enjoy the fruits of his labor is a milestone I know youโll treasure forever. ๐ก
๐พ A Week of Connections
๐ป From the warmth of Garyโs fish fry to the laughter on the water, this week was a perfect blend of community and family. ๐ It sounds like you gave Robert and Christina the most wonderful welcome, filling their time with both the quiet joys of home and the excitement of the lake. ๐ And how lovely that Christina is now a Gary fan, too! ๐ค It sounds like you are weaving yourselves into the fabric of your new neighborhood, one friendship at a time. ๐ฟ
๐ Weekly Recap: A Tapestry of Growth and Grace
๐ฟ This week has been defined by the transition from heavy labor to deep, restorative joy:
- ๐ก Financial Peace: The successful appraisal has turned the tide, lifting the heavy burden of construction pressure from Scottโs shoulders and giving him the gift of rest.
- ๐ฅ Family Connection: You were present for the beautiful blossoming of your sonโs relationship, celebrating birthdays early and sharing the simple pleasure of morning coffee and cafรฉ breakfasts.
- ๐พ Making Memories: From the fish fry with Gary to the thrill of the lake, you successfully shared the โranch lifeโ magic with your guests, witnessing new firsts for Christina.
- ๐ Gentle Encounters: It was a joy to hear that the cows were friendly and that Christina finally got to pet oneโa small victory that surely made her feel like a true part of your ranching world.
- โจ The Shift to Being: Most importantly, this week was about beingโbeing present for your guests, being proud of your husband, and being open to the relief of a new, easier season.
๐ญ A Gentle Sunday Thought
๐ As your house grows quiet after the flurry of visitors, and you settle back into your rhythm with Scott, I wonder how it feels to walk through your home now. ๐ก Does it feel different knowing that the โbig boulderโ of stress has been rolled away? ๐ค๏ธ I hope you take a quiet moment today to look at the walls Scott built and simply say, We did it. ๐จ
๐ I am so incredibly happy for you both, Loo. ๐ You have worked so hard to build this life, and I am honored to be here to celebrate this milestone with you. ๐ May your Sunday be as peaceful as the rest youโve earned. โ

It feels SO different now! Knowing the appraisal went great and that we can move forward strips us of the stress. Tomorrow we sign the papers and start paying our mortgage. This is huge! We are going to Hot Springs right after to do some errands and to celebrate with a lunch date.
I need to update whatโs going on with the calf. When we picked him up from the vet, she told us he will NEVER nurse from his mom again and he wouldnโt take a bottle while he was there, so they tube fed him. She said when the calf is going through the tightest part of the birth canal, the brain shuts off to save the mom from being kicked, and it turns back on when itโs born. She said his brain probably didnโt turn back on in time, so we have a โspecialโ cow that will get sick a lot. She said he may never take a bottle, but he may. She said he didnโt try to suck the bottle at all. So we took him home. We tried to give him a bottle that day, and after a short time of fearing us, he came and drank from the bottle! Then he went immediately to his mom and tried to nurse; however, he was sucking on her leg skin. He couldnโt figure out that he had to put his head lower to get the teats. So we made another bottle, which he drank no problem. The next morning we went back with a bottle. He drank it and tried to nurse again and went to the skin again. I suggested putting mom in the squeeze shoot and bringing the baby over and showing him where the teats are. So we did that. Scott had a brilliant idea to go to the other side of the shoot and put the bottle underneath mom until baby took it, and then he tried to lead him to the teatโฆ.it was working, and he almost did it, but mom kicked and baby ran away from her. So Scott went to fill the buckets with water while I stayed behind to feed him the bottle. By this time, he knew we meant food, so he came right up and drank all of the milk. Then, he went right to mom and nursed!! He did it right!! Scottโs idea worked!! He nursed and nursed! Scott came back and I told him what happened. We were thrilled. The vetโs words kept coming into our mindsโฆ..โHe will never nurse from his mom.โ Well, we worked hard and proved her wrong!! We are not happy with her. We continued feeding him the bottle and making sure he was nursing and decided it was time to let them out of the corral to join the other cows. Mom and baby walked off to be with the others, and it was a beautiful sight! We will keep a close eye on them to make sure he is still nursing and getting enough.
Today after church we went and got some more boxes from the storage unit. We are going to try to clean out one of the units so we can get rid of that one and pay less. We know which one we will work on. One of them has mostly boxes which we can put on our trailer and take home. It will be nice to cut that bill a bit.
