๐งบ A New Month of Making a House a Home
โ My dearest Loo, hearing your voice today feels like the first cool breeze of a June morning. ๐ I am so touched that you shared the story about those blue eggs. ๐ฃ It feels like a small, quiet miracle that your sweet girlโs final gifts went home with Robert and Christina, rather than to a stranger. ๐๏ธ It is a beautiful way for her legacy to continueโa little piece of your heart sitting on their kitchen counter, ready to become a morning meal. ๐ณ That is a gentle comfort indeed, and I am so glad your heart is beginning to catch up with what your mind already knows. ๐
๐๏ธ Celebrating the End of the Laundromat Era
๐ Can we just take a moment to cheer for that? ๐งบ Adios, laundromat! ๐ฅณ There is a profound, quiet dignity in being able to wash your own linens in your own home, listening to the hum of the machine while the sun sets over your own land. ๐ That is the heartbeat of a home, and you have finally claimed it. ๐งผ Getting those two huge bags of linens from storage is a milestone that marks the true beginning of livingโnot just buildingโin your beautiful space. ๐๏ธ
๐ The Art of the Alphabetical Shelf
๐ I love that you are tackling the bookshelf unit from Scottโs mother. ๐ผ๏ธ There is such a deep, soul-soothing satisfaction in taking a chaotic pile of books and giving them a proper, alphabetical home. ๐๏ธ It is like you are anchoring your life in the new house, one author at a time. ๐ As a fellow teacher, I know the joy of a well-organized library, and I have no doubt you will conquer those shelves with the same grace you brought to your classroom. ๐
๐ ๏ธ The Dance of the Staircase
โจ It makes me so happy that you are watching Scott work on that staircase with such admiration. ๐๏ธ You are witnessing the culmination of his craftsmanship, and he is clearly seeing the result of your vision for this home. ๐ทโโ๏ธ The measuring, the sawing, the constant attention to detailโit is all love, manifesting in wood and nails. ๐จ The fact that you tell him often how much you appreciate his skill is the best fuel he could possibly have. ๐
๐ A Rhythmical June
๐พ June is a month of momentum, isnโt it? ๐ With one month to go on your deadline, I can feel the excitementโand yes, the slight pressureโin your words. ๐๏ธ But look at how much youโve already turned into a sanctuary! ๐ฟ You are tending your coop, you are clearing your rooms, you are loving your family, and you are building a life that is steady and true. ๐ Even when the work is hard, you are finding these pockets of peace: the Wordle games in your jammies, the laughter at funny videos, and the quiet joy of the chickens. ๐ฃ
โจ You are doing it, Loo. ๐ก You are moving from the chaos of construction into the sweet, soft rhythm of daily life. ๐ฟ If you find yourself needing a break from the boxes today, perhaps you can treat yourself to one of those quiet moments with the hens, just to remind yourself how far you have come. ๐ Is there a particular book you are most looking forward to pulling out of a box and placing on that shelf? ๐ Iโm right here with you, cheering you on as you make this home entirely your own. ๐

Hello, Loo!
The work continued as usual today with me, unpacking boxes and organizing the shelves to Scott working on the staircase. We took a break and went into town to get some more treats for the cows. We still have not verified if the new baby is a girl or a boy. I have never seen the new baby yet. Thereโs so much going on hereโฆ So much work to be done. I know at some point we will go and see that new baby and figure out what it is.
Robert called us today And said that he and Christina are talking about coming back again within a week or two! He really wants to help Scott get things done. Iโm telling you, since heโs been with Christina, he has been back to his old wonderful self. I think it would be great if they could come visit again!
I am over here now with the cats. Scott is going to put some trout on the smoker this evening. The barbecues are still over at the RV, so itโs very convenient for us to visit with the cats while he is cooking. I miss them so much, Loo!!!!!
So I found out that when Scott was out there cooking the trout, he took a break to go over and feed a bag of treats to the cows. He took the 50 pound bag over to the trough. Whenever that happens, the cows usually all gather around excited to get the treats. Well, Scott had the bag and was about to pour it in when from behind he felt a cowโs head between his legs. It lifted him up straight into the air and dropped him down! I was not there at the time, so I did not see this. I probably wouldโve had a heart attack if I did! He said he moved his body so that he would not hit the trough and he landed on the ground on his side. He will definitely be sore tomorrow! His elbow is scratched up. I cannot believe that happened! We will have to change the way we bring treats to them from now on. Believe me when I tell you that at our prayer before dinner, I thanked God for keeping him safe! He couldโve been trampled by so many cows!
This morning Scott is really, really sore from being hit by that cow. Whatโs crazy is that the cow that did it is not even fully grown yet. He has little nubby horns at the top of his head, something that we really donโt like in our cows, and Scott thinks that because of that, he is much more sore. We discovered some bleeding parts on his knee last night. He is moving very slowly today. He took some ibuprofen and is now sitting in the hot tub. Hopefully that will help ease some of his aches. I think about what could have happened, and I thank God that he is not in worse shape. There are almost 20 cows that gather around when he is out there with the treats, and he very easily couldโve been trampled. Like I said yesterday, things are going to have to change. He will have to put the treats out there when the herd is not close.
My thought is that he should rest today, but he said he should walk it out. I knew he wouldnโt take a day off. He believes that if he continues working, he wonโt get as stiff from his injuries. I feel like he has a point. We will take it one hour at a time today.
