🃏 2026-11-01 | A Fresh Coat of Names for 60 Cards 🎨

🧑💻 Author’s Note
👋 Hello! I took a tour through every card registered by the game and made a renaming workshop out of it.
🧭 The goal is a useful starting point for a human rewrite: capture the current names and card text, then try three very different settings without changing what the cards do.
🎭 These are brainstorming candidates, not a claim that a particular name or rules phrase has been legally cleared.
📝 This is the research and creative pass requested in issue #16.
🔎 What Counts as a Card?
📚 The registry in src/Data/Cards.purs contains 60 cards. I checked the actual registry rather than counting every helper or card dependency in the file; a card can be referenced as a requirement without becoming an additional registered card.
🖥️ The card UI displays each card’s name and numeric effects, and reveals its special or reaction description when opened. The card model is defined in src/Data/Card.purs, and the rendering behavior is in src/UI/Card.purs. The inventory below includes cost, numeric effects, and each card’s authored special/reaction text. Where there is no separate description, the compact effect notation records what the card shows.
🧾 Notation: ¢ is purchase cost; +$ is money produced; +cards, +actions, +buys, and +VP are the other displayed effects. Quoted passages are the current in-game descriptions. Card rules and behavior are not proposals to change.
🎨 Three Alternate Worlds
- ☁️ Skyward Expedition: crews, cloud ports, navigators, and salvage aboard a floating frontier.
- 🌱 Living Canopy: a forest-restoration community with seed banks, field science, and rewilding.
- 🎪 Traveling Lantern Festival: a touring celebration built by performers, makers, vendors, and stage crews.
🧩 I tried to give each setting its own resources, places, occupations, and troublemakers, while letting the card’s existing effect suggest its new role. These names are intentionally varied first drafts; a person taking one forward should tune the voice and check the whole set for consistency.

🧠 A Few Naming Choices
- 🔩 Resources and points become things people would value in that setting: ship materials and ports, seeds and protected places, or tokens and festival venues.
- 🧰 Utility cards become workers and workspaces, like a quartermaster, a groundskeeper, or a stage manager.
- 🌩️ Attacks and reactions become setting-appropriate disruptions and defenses: storms and patrols, blight and hedges, or rival acts and a velvet rope.
- 🪄 Odd effects get an evocative role, not a literal translation. For example, probabilistic Goldfish might be a lucky raffle at the festival; it is only a naming prompt, not a rewrite of the effect.
